The Musical History of Bryan Zive and Kol Echad

Bryan Zive and Kol Echad offically came together in 2004 when two friends in a Jewish Fraternity decided that it was time to spread their love of Jewish music to others. Bryan, along with Ari Kessler, the two original members of Kol Echad, and fellow brothers of the Eta Chapter of Alpha Epsilon Pi at Ohio State took their music talents and created music that would not only be entertaining and easy on the ear, but influential in modern Jewish world. Knowing fully how much music has inpacted their lives and Judaism, they both wanted to make an impact on Jewish education by writing and spreading music of their own.

In 2007, Bryan teamed up with fellow Goldman Union camp songleader Sam Pollak and GUCI counselor Seth Slaton to form the new edition of Kol Echad. Jonathan Skaggs was the final member to join, as he was active in music education at Temple Israel of Columbus, Ohio and in NFTY-Ohio Valley. With all four members Jewish and active in the URJ camping movement and Religious Education, Kol Echad became a unique, very special group.

2009 brought great change to the band as Bryan became the full time Music Director of Temple Sinai in Denver, Colorado. Since this new position forced relocation to the Mile High City, a new opportunity for the promotion of Jewish music, education and performance came to be. Kol Echad restructured to its most talented musical group, by adding heavily touring drummer and percussionist Matt Lucich (Los Angeles, CA), who also plays with artists such as Pat Monahan. Most rescently, bass player Josh Mills (Denver, CO) has joined the band to round out the final piece in Kol Echad's growth.

Bryan Zive and Kol Echad  strives to continue composing, entertaining and education consistently, not just in the the Rocky Mountain region,  but nationally as well for years to come.
