Hey Everyone!

What's going on? I know, I know, it's been a while! But I'm here to tell you some exciting news about the summer! Camp Newman-Swig is gonna be ROCKIN'! We have artists coming to camp this summer that surprasses anything we've ever had! On top of myself, Cantor Wally and the other songleaders, we are fortunate enough to have on faculty (and for concerts) Dan Nichols and Eighteen, Rick Recht, Rabbi Joe Black, Mah Tovu and Noam Katz! THIS IS SO EXCITING! Concerts every week, learning from the best and a music-filled summer. I absolutely can't wait for the summer to begin! 3 MONTHS!

As for me, everything is wonderful. I'm still the Cantorial Soloist at Temple Israel in Columbus, OH. It's a wonderful job and the congregation and spiritual atmosphere is going in the right direction under Rabbi Zinkow! Next year, Danny Maseng, an amazing Jewish education and composer will be the Artist-in-Residence at TI. What an honor for this historic congreation! The kids are signing, Shabbatot are rockin', and life couldn't be any better. I've composed a few new songs that have been introduced here in the Ohio Valley, such as "Elohai", "Shiru", and "V'al Kulam". I'll hopefully be recording again soon! If you want to be involved in the exciting process of recording, let me know via email and I'll give you something to help out with!

Also, sign the guestbook. It's fun!

Take care and see you at camp!

Bryan

P.S- Congrats to Danny Nichols on becoming a father-to-be!!!!

UPDATED OCT 8

Hello Everyone and Chag Same'ach!

I know it has been a while since we've updated the website. So you have probably been wondering what has been happening! Well, here we go...your very own month-by-month update since summer started!

JUNE: June was an incredible month. I had the great opportunity of being the songleader for Hagigah, the fine arts session for 10th graders at URJ Camp Swig-Newman. I worked very closly in leading prayer services, song
session and a songleading Yitzirah (workshop) with Cantor Wally Schachet-Briskin of Leo Baeck Temple in Los Angeles. We had an incredible faculty visiting, teaching and enjoying the workshops, such as Rick Recht and Rabbi's Ken Chasen and Josh Zwiebeck of Mah Tovu! We had some of the most spiritual and fun moments in camp history. My song "Angel" became Hagigah Minchag, as we sang the words of the song during every siyum before we ended our day. It was an experience I surely will never forget.

JULY: I will still at camp finishing up Hagigah and moving on to other sessions. I was the songleader for the 9th grade session of "Rishonim Bet". They were a bunch of great kids and we had some great song session throughout the two weeks they were at camp! Our session song was a parody to Greenday's "Minority". We definately had a blast!

AUGUST: August began with a bang! I got an opporunity I ususally don't get to have! I worked with 5th graders in the last session of camp, "Kochavim". It was a different, but fun experience! I was goofy and had a blast, created a different type of spirituality! I sure hope I get that chance to work with the little ones again!

SEPTEMBER: September was a month that changed my life. I led Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur services for the first time ever. I, with the help of the awesome members of YFTL, Temple Israel's senior youth group, led a beautiful, spiritual Rosh Hashanah morning service. The word spread quickly and the sanctuary was full for our morning Yom Kippur service. We all made beautiful musical moments and created a mood that made me sit back and reflect, which is exactly what you should do on Yom Kippur. I also led a few more services with the congregation throughout the course of Yom Kippur day. It made me think that new beginnings come with the new year. And I can't wait to get the new year going, to create new experiences and to grow as a person and musician. I also had the honor of chanting Kol Nidre in Erev Yom Kippur Services at Ohio State Hillel. I never realized how moving of a musical piece Kol Nidre really is. If you haven't been to a Kol Nidre service, please go next year. Also, in September, we began the "Tikkun Minyan" at Temple Israel,
which takes place on the first and third Saturday Shabbatot of the month. It has been an absolute pleasure to work with Rabbi Misha Zinkow. We've created an incredible spiritual experience during these minyans. Please feel free to come by at any time for this service. I promise you, you won't be disappointed!

Whew! That's a lot of information and experiences I just told you about! So until next time, I leave you with these words..... Always live in the moment. May this new year bring happiness to you and your families, and a life full of love, peace and music!

Shanah Tovah v' Chag Sameach!

Bryan
